You’re fat. You’re ugly. You’re not skinny enough. The pressure for young girls to look a certain way, to fit in, is overwhelming. With thinness placed on such a high pedestal, it should be no surprise that a third of women ages 15-24 in the U.S. suffer from an eating disorder. Anorexia, bulimia and binge eating are the most common forms and can cause severe depression, physical trauma, suicidal thoughts and often lead to drug abuse. Even more tragic is that for those with chronic anorexia,15-20% will die from their illness.Solution:
This week your support will provide housing, food, group and individual therapy, life-skills training and counseling to a teenage girl struggling with an eating disorder. Your support will help heal a young girl’s emotional and psychological wounds and restore her self worth.
